Bear Creek Project Groovy Porthole Bathroom
Updated: Jun 8, 2021
It is called Porthole Bathroom Project for obvious reasons in the below "before" picture. Leave it to the pandemic to look at things with a different lens and urgency. :) I have stared at this porthole for six years, knowing that it needs an update. My son is 13 now and he is the most thankful for the completion of this project as he has his own bathroom space, including a shower, and no longer has to share with his college aged sisters.
The design process for this bathroom started last July '20. There were many iterations of the drawings but we finally came to a decision and are thrilled with the outcome.
The Mood Board for this project started with the vanity as I wanted the wood from our lounge and kitchen to flow into this space. The vanity is maple with a soft warm stain that adds a fresh element. I used the same hardware from my kitchen; Ashley Norton 10" pulls in aged bronze. A friend of mine used these in her kitchen and I fell in love! They are timeless and with use they turn a lovely bronze color. I worked with a local Woodinville contractor; Keystone Kitchens, to do the demo and construction. I wanted a thick countertop with a mitered edge. A 3" white quartz is perfect for the space.
